We have posted two new releases.
1.82.06 fixes multi-threading defects in the server which lead to unexpected SnapshotCM server abort. If you are currently running any 1.82 release, we recommend that you update to 1.82.06. While large and active databases are primarily affected, one of the identified problems could affect any installation running 1.82, 1.82.01 or 1.82.02.
SnapshotCM 1.82.05 is also posted. This fixes the multi-threaded issues by serializing database access (one thread at a time), just like releases prior to 1.82. While we recommend the multi-threaded 1.82.06 because of its superior multi-user responsiveness, we've provided 1.82.05 because we want to provide a solution for those of you who might be nervous running 1.82.06. We have high confidence that the multi-threading problems we've identified fully explain the server crashes a few customers have experienced. We have ran automated memory checkers, code reviewed the critical sections, and written explicit multi-threaded database tests that exercise the database code under the most extreme conditions. These new tests do find the early 1.82 release problems and run clean on the 1.82.06 release.
Both 1.82.05 and 1.82.06 also fix server memory leaks identified during our testing, as well as a client compatibility problem interacting with pre-1.82 servers, which prevents some already compressed files from being checked in.
